About the Festival
Fracas! is the first ever purely collegiate improv festival in the world. The festival began in 2004, shortly after the conception of USC’s Second Nature Improv troupe, as a venue for college improvisers to come together and play. Centered around a deep love for improvisational theatre, troupes from as far as Washington DC have come to Fracas! the past three years to perform alongside their peers. Using their combined experiences as a collective resource, the troupes forge friendships - together, they grow, learn, share, and play.
As more people get excited about Fracas!, the festival continues to grow. This year, we added a full night of performances, and three discussion panels. We also gained the support of The Onion, who gladly sponsored the fourth annual festival. In addition, Los Angeles’ top improv training centers have gotten behind Fracas!, recognizing the importance of such a festival. We are proud to have the support of ComedySportz, The Groundlings, iO West, and The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre - all of whom were involved with Fracas! IV, sending panelists or instructors.
